Worth the trip from Bournemouth This lovely place in the middle of a quaint little Dorset village near Dorchester, is where we come to now and then for special occasions as it is a bit of a journey from the outskirts of Bournemouth. That said we have always enjoyed our meals even though today we had to content with the road from Grimstone being shut and having to go up the A37 to the other turn off. This way gives you great views of the countryside with no houses in sight. We were welcomed on arrival and ordered drinks which soon came. Being 4 of us, 2 had the lovely rich pate while the other 2 had pulled pork teriyake style which was great, a bit spicy. For mains 2 of us had the beef stir fry which was very tasty with plenty of slightly spicy beef and noodles with veg including pat-choi. I had the Nduja Angolotti which is pasta with spicy bits of sausage inside it, with peas, burrata and sage which was lovely. The eldest member of our party braved the Moules Mariniere which she totally enjoyed, but she needed help finishing all of her nice fries. We finished with tasty lemon posset, eton mess and choc brownie, which left us very full but we managed cups of their great coffee. So a great place with a good chef and friendly staff to come back to again soon.

What fantastic care The Greyhound took of us today! The Greyhound has been a firm family favorite since we discovered it by chance years ago! Being half way between my sister-in-law in Devon and us in Hampshire, we use it frequently for family meetups! They outdid themselves today -- not only did we have to change the reservation twice, but then both parts of the party were woefully late in arriving -- due to travel problems! We came in just 7 minutes before the kitchen was due to close and still got a lovely meal, plus pudding and weren't thrown out although we stayed past the usual closing time! The staff were so welcoming, the food was delicious! Please don't think that you all should do that sort of thing to them -- but rest assured the you will get a highly professional, and very delicious reception at The Greyhound! Can't wait until our next visit!

Giant’s Head marathon weekend We were there as we had done the Giant’s Head marathon that day. This pub did brilliantly in welcoming the runners, putting an offer on especially and made the most of a very busy village! I walked in a rather broken person (that run is HARD!) and a really lovely, friendly chap was welcoming everyone, chatting to us and really made a great atmosphere. Food was lovely, brilliant wine selection. Thank you to the staff; they really did work hard that night, and well done to the Greyhound - I’ve been to running events where the local pubs appear to visibly sigh at the sight of extra business but here is a pub who embraced the busy weekend and made us all feel so welcome. Thank you so much.

Stunning village Inn Wow! This beautiful pub in the most picturesque village is a little gem. We had a wonderful weekend and felt so very relaxed the moment we arrived! Staff were so friendly and service was impeccable. We loved relaxing in the garden which was so pretty with all the flowers and grape vines above … it felt like we were on holiday in an Italian cafe! We had an evening meal which was 5 star and the breakfasts were also amazing … you could have as much as you wanted and anything you wanted from the Al a carte menu … and such variety from a full English to avocado or salmon … plus a tasty fruit compote with creamy Greek yoghurt! We really enjoyed all the food on offer. This is a truly dog friendly place, so we took our little westipoo (Charlie) who loved saying hello to all the other doggy, well behaved guests! Our room was really clean, with crispy white linen bedding and good facilities. Overall, the whole experience was such good value and we loved every second of our stay. Thank you Grey hound inn … we will be back!

A gem of a place in a gem of a village in the Dorset countryside... Great pub with rooms. We stayed overnight. Last minute booking but communication was prompt. As soon as we arrived we sat in the sunny garden and enjoy a cold drink because we couldn't resist. Great sized room, spotlessly clean. Cozy and comfy. The restaurant was closed in the evening but we had a really lovely breakfast. Every member of the team we spoke to was friendly and helpful. Hope to get the chance to stay again.
